The Roundhouse
The Roundhouse Cafe is named after a building, owned by the railroad, which stood close to this site and housed a giant turntable for rotating locomotives, which visited Joggins.
The building later became a place for the youth of Joggins to get together and many local residents have fond memories of spending time with friends there before it was demolished.
The original Roundhouse was, actually rectangular and not round but we thought that this would be a great way to remember the rail heritage of the town and make reference to our round walls and it gave rise to our fabulous cafe tagline:
"From trains to coffee...it's the evolution of steam! "
